1) "Beloved" von Toni Morrison

Inhalt: It is the mid-1800s. At Sweet Home in Kentucky. An era is ending, as slavery comes under attack from the abolitionists. The worlds of Halle and Paul D. are to be destroyed in a cataclysm of torment and agony. Eigene Meinung: So eindringlich und emotional es geschrieben ist, so verwirrend ist das Buch an vielen Stellen auch und das ist keineswegs dem geschuldet, dass ich es in Englisch gelesen habe. Trotzdem mal wieder eine gute "Lese-Bereicherung".




2) "Brave New World" von Aldous Huxley

Inhalt: It is the year After Ford 632 in the New World. People are born and live by scientific methods. There is worldwide happiness and order. Then John comes from the Savage Reservation to the New World and with him he brings strong emotions - love, hate, anger, fear. Suddenly, danger threatens the New World.
Eigene Meinung: Ich habe das Buch vor einigen Jahren schon mal gelesen, damals aber noch nicht wirklich verstanden. Als ich es nun wieder gelesen habe war ich schon ein bisschen erschrocken darüber, wie sich die Menschheit entwickeln könnte, denn gar so utopisch finde ich es gar nicht. Ich finde es sehr gut geeignet um sich mal wieder auf die wichtigen Dinge im Leben zu besinnen.
